The "Mimises" Collection

"Mimises" was coined by Socrates, a term he used to explain the disconnect things often have from the nature they are trying to depict, the representation of nature, as opposed to simply the nature itself. While these pieces show every graver cut, every chasing ding, each stipple, its actually an illusion of work. All the hours I put into the original piece have been condensed into a rubber mold, which I can inject with wax that I can then cast. Now I can replicate certain treasures near perfectly, repeatedly. Since these pieces are reproducible using this industrial technique I can now give certain pieces very affordable pricing. Molded and cast by me right here in the studio, these pieces, replicas, clones, these representations of work, I am calling "Mimises".
